(There Is Such A Party!) , 1974, by Poster Artist, Vladimir Sachkov (Russian, 1928-2005).
Colour lithograph, text in Cyrillic with date lower centre, signed "V. Sachkov" in Cyrillic in image lower right, 115.5 x 58cm. Repaired creases and tears, minor chips to edges. Linen-backed.
This image of Lenin refers to an event at the "First All-Russian Congress of Soviets in June, 1917. The Menshevik [Irakli] Tsereteli had declared there was no political party in Russia that would express its readiness to take the entire power upon itself. [Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924)] rose from his seat and exclaimed: "There Is such a Party...Our Party [Bolsheviks] does not refuse it: it is prepared at any minute to take over the entire power."
