In 1933 artist J.R. Charton designed five posters for the Federated Malay States Railway. A newspaper review of Charton's work noted that the imagery of the posters was "exceedingly effective" and would therefore encourage tourists to make an overland journey through Malaya. Ref: Malaya Tribune, 23.11.1933.
